Welcome to Shining Light, NFP
Children of Mary
Children of Mary is a Special Needs social group under the non-for profit Shining Light.

Over the past 15 years, our organization has provided weekly social programs to help foster independent living skills, community service outings, and improvement in communication skills. We also offer creative movement/dance classes to foster a healthy lifestyle and improve motor skills. Unfortunately, many of our participants live below the poverty level and cannot afford the expenses involved in participation.

Weekly Activities:
Social gatherings every Friday, mid/morning to mid/afternoon
Dance classes every Saturday, 10:00 am - 12:00pm, location is The Arc (West Chicago Park District)

To raise funds for these services, we have one yearly fundraiser in which we showcase a theatre production—this year being “We Can Fly” with excerpts from Disney’s Peter Pan and Pirates of the Caribbean with vocals and dance.

We serve “finger-foods” with refreshments, have over 30 raffle baskets, grand-prize raffle, and silent auction.
Join us on May 17, 2025 from 12 to 2 p.m. at Resurrection Parish, 30W350 Army Trail Road, Wayne. Tickets are $10 at the door or $80 for a table of 10. If your organization can help with this worthy cause either by a monetary donation, raffle basket, or table sponsor, it would be greatly appreciated.
